Mersey Ferries and the Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor have announced that the famous and much loved ferry – the Royal Daffodil – is to be re-furbished and then re-homed in the Canning Dock area as a heritage venue and leisure attraction.
Working closely with heritage experts and also with Engage the new owners want to make sure that the restored ferry benefits all residents as well as tourists and there will be opportunities to explore the vessel and even hire it and possibly stay on it!
It has been bought by local company Liverpool City Sights Ltd and they are determined to restore the ferry so that it has a new lease of life and doesn’t end up like the tragic Royal Iris ferry that lies abandoned and ruined on the banks of the Thames:
