After the first two seminars participants started sharing ideas for what might come next. Any by the final seminar we decided to dispense with the usual Q&A and have instead a chance for everyone present to talk in small groups about The Next Step. We are clear that our seminars must inspire action as we don’t ever want these events to become mere talking-shops. We were not disappointed. There was fantastic energy in the Isle of Man Ferry Terminal, where the 3rd seminar with Bristol was held,  and we have now got the enviable task of drawing up the proposals in a way that we can present to residents, stakeholders and participants so that action will be taken for the city and its people.

After our seminars on over-tourism called Destination Liverpool Tourists vs Residents? we continued the conversation and have taken part in international events connected with the work Engage started in Liverpool. Sadly the partnership we intended to form with Marketing Liverpool never materialised. However the seminar page contains a plethora of valuable articles published about the topic, as well as a podcast made in Copenhagen which explores the initiative Engage took in Liverpool.

So our first sharing here is an article from the Guardian forwarded by one of the participants about the tension in the city of Hamburg between the demands to build more affordable homes and the need to protect and enhance the green environment. You can read it here:

Soon we hope to add the reports from the Feedback Forms and The Next Step proposals. We sent out an email on Friday 15th November to all participants to see who would like to continue their connection with Engage and help us develop our response. You can contact us on chair@engageliverpool.com

One really helpful site for understanding the impacts of climate change is Friends of the Earth Impacts of Climate Change extreme weather page.

We will publish any articles that residents feel should be given greater prominence. Here are some to start the ball rolling:
